Ronald T.Y. Moon Judiciary Complex

Expressing modern openness and Hawai‘i's tropical culture.

The Ronald T. Y. Moon Judiciary Complex houses 12 non-jury courtrooms and one jury courtroom, holding cells, judge’s chambers and space for First Circuit departments and programs. The complex consists of a three-story administrative wing and a four-story court wing with a basement. The basement serves as the main secure corridor system linking holding cells on the first floor with holding cells at courtrooms on upper floors. It provides legally mandated visual and auditory separation of adult detainees and juveniles.  A secure, isolated route for juveniles connects the courtrooms and the juvenile detention facility.

This state-of-the-art judicial complex was designed to meet the needs of the expanding population in West O‘ahu, the needs of families, and children and the growing population of the entire island of O‘ahu.
