With modular, inviting, light-filled spaces for collaboration and innovation, the Brigham Young University - Hawai'i Science Building responds to diversified learning styles and a surge of students pursuing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Classrooms, co-working spaces, administrative offices, state-of-the-art laboratories, and a rooftop observatory offer flexibility and ease of future modifications, with all systems intended for plug-and-play functionality. The design concept was based on an interior planning model that accommodates long-term growth needs, but at minimal cost and disruption to the campus. The interior design was guided by biophilic elements and fractal forms that appear naturally in science disciplines.
