Lukas Kaplan

AIA, NCARB

Associate, Architect

Lukas has cultivated a diverse architectural background through his work in Hawai‘i, the mainland U.S., and Europe. His portfolio includes hospitality, residential, educational, commercial, healthcare, and master planning projects, shaped by a deep interest in resilient design and global architectural traditions. As an architect and project manager at AHL, he is currently leading a new hotel development at the Honolulu airport and serves as a mentor in Revit, drawing from extensive experience with the platform. He enjoys collaborating with others to uncover each person’s strengths and guide teams toward high-quality, elegant solutions.

Outside of work, Lukas enjoys scuba diving, biking, swimming, running, traveling, and cooking. He’s passionate about ocean conservation and is an active member of several diving and environmental organizations. Originally from Europe, he studied at the Czech Technical University, the oldest technical university in Europe, and once managed over 50 employees while working in food service during summers in the U.S. A fun fact—he learned the basics of architectural photography from Richard Payne, who documented the work of some of the most iconic architects of the 20th century.
