The Council’s work helps inform the standards that guide how Hawaiʻi builds. Those standards affect the safety, resilience, performance, affordability, and long-term value of buildings across the state.
As the Council prepares to resume its work, Joel will bring an architect’s perspective to discussions around building standards that are safe, practical, and locally responsive. His participation supports AIA Hawaiʻi’s ongoing commitment to codes that reflect Hawaiʻi’s distinct climate, natural hazards, communities, and construction realities.
