On Friday, October 3rd, the AHL office buzzed with architects, friends, and concrete lovers as we went full-on brutal(ist) for the annual AIA Firm Crawl! This year’s theme celebrated the bold and unapologetic energy of Brutalism—and our space was ready to play host, showing off its best angles, fresh renovations, and plenty of personality.
From mid-century jams echoing through open workspaces to lively chats under exposed ductwork, “collaboration” was the real star of the evening. Visitors explored our flexible floor plan, 360° city views, and sustainable touches—including recycled teak floors and daylight sensors that turn sunshine into a design feature. Four generations of AHL staff were out mingling, sharing stories from our 79-year history and swapping inspiration for Hawai‘i’s next great buildings.
Mahalo to everyone who stopped by, laughed with us, and helped put the “fun” in “function.” Whether you’re a fan of concrete curves or just here for the vibes, we loved connecting and celebrating the Honolulu design community together.
