Accounting Clerk

AHL’s office in downtown Honolulu is seeking an accounting clerk to join our highly creative and collaborative team.  The successful candidate for this position will be highly organized, energetic, and team-oriented. This person will assist the Chief Financial Officer in all phases of accounting as required.

education
  • Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school in accounting or business preferred.
  • One to three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
knowledge/skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and office procedures.
  • Comfortable using accounting software and general office applications such as Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint, Excel, Word, Adobe, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to manage routine financial tasks accurately.
typical duties

Accounts Payable Support

  • Responsible for processing accounts payabletransactions including entering invoices into the accounting system for projectmanager review and approval. Once approved or rejected, responsible forcompleting the posting or rejection in the system. Assist with coding invoices,maintaining supporting documentation, and ensuring proper record keeping. 

Consultant and Vendor Payments

  • Process consultant and vendor invoices related toprojects. Prepare and issue checks or electronic payments once approvals arecompleted. Maintain records of consultant agreements and assist with trackingpayments. 

Cash Receipts

  • Record and post incoming payments in theaccounting system. Assist with maintaining accurate records of client paymentsand support reconciliation of deposits.

Invoice Processing and Documentation

  • Maintain organized electronic and physical filesfor invoices, payment documentation, and approvals. Ensure documentationcomplies with internal accounting procedures. 

General Accounting Support

  • Provide support to the accounting team withroutine financial tasks such as data entry, account reconciliations, andproject accounting assistance as needed.

Administrative Accounting Support

  • Assist with maintaining accounting records, scanning documentation, and supporting the accounting team with day-to-day operational tasks.

Pay Range $28.00/hr to $32.00/hr
