Project Accountant

AHL’s office in downtown Honolulu is seeking a Project Accountant to join our highly creative and collaborative team. The successful candidate for this position will be highly organized, energetic, and team oriented. This person will assist the Chief Financial Officer in all phases of accounting as required.  

AHL offers a hybrid office/remote 3/2 schedule, 4-1/2 day work week.

education
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred. Minimum of five years of accounting/bookkeeping experience. Prior experience in architecture and/or construction accounting is a plus. Computer experience is required.
knowledge/skills
  • General knowledge of project accounting and accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge and confidence in using accounting software programs and other programs, i.e. Deltek/Vision, Excel, Word, Adobe, and Outlook.

typical duties
  • Taxes – general knowledge of Hawaii General Excise Tax laws as it applies to billings and consultants.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgement with respect to accounting and other significant matters of office management and/or operations.
  • Accounts Payable System – responsible for processing all sub-consultant billings as it pertains to projects and reconciliation of consultant agreements to payments.  
  • Accounts Receivable System – responsible for all facets of the system including billings, posting, rebilling and interpret contracts and proposals for billing purposes. Submittal of Tax Clearance and other contractual requirements on State, City and Federal projects. Completion of Lien Waivers as required.
  • Supervises Accounting Clerk on project accounting as needed.
