Junior Designer (Architecture) - Department of Defense

AHL’s office in downtown Honolulu is seeking a Junior Designer to join our highly creative and collaborative team. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for providing architectural design and drafting assistance to Architects, designers, job captains, and other staff personnel on projects.

AHL offers a hybrid office/remote 3/2 schedule and a 4-1/2 day work week.

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a variety of project types and preferred experience in Department of Defense (DoD) related projects.

  • LEED Accreditation preferred.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge and skills of drafting techniques.  Rudimentary drafting instruction and architectural delineation preferred.
  • General knowledge of DoD project standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of drafting technique including CAD/Revit and hand drafting and drawing.
  • Revit and/or 3-D software program experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite software experience.
typical duties
  • Conducts drafting and design tasks.
  • Prepares construction documents - coordinates details and dimensions.
  • Develops concepts, space plans and details on small projects or portion of large projects.
  • Maintains CAD/Revit file protocol.
  • Reproduces documents and copying.
  • Prepares sketches and renderings for presentation.
  • Assists in physical and computer-aided model building.
  • Assists with general office work.
  • Assists in field and site surveys.
  • Maintains product and sample resource materials.
  • Other specific responsibilities as assigned.
